Founded on the principles of charity, unity and fraternity, the Knights of Columbus was established in 1882 by Father Michael J. McGivney, assistant pastor of St. Mary's Church in New Haven, Conn., and a group of parishioners.   • I have been a Knight since 2015.  I joined the Knights initially to help with activities at the Parish but it has become so much more for me.  The care and deep friendship that each Knight shares is so powerful.  I enjoy the times we have working together but, more importantly the brotherhood and  faith-sharing has enriched my life.  I have been married to my wife Janis for 23 years and we moved to Merrimack in 2004.  We have two girls Caisy and Josephine.  My interests outside the Knights include hockey, baseball and fitness.

  • I joined the Knights of Council 6725 in the fall of 2020 after being a Knight for many years while living in Illinois. My wife and I moved to Merrimack in 2018 and became parishioners of OLM. Married to my wife Linda for over 50 years, with two adult sons and 10-and 8-year-old grandsons. “Retired” in 2020, but will be working part-time to the end of the year. I keep busy with our sons’ D-I-Y home projects and keeping up with grandsons.

  • I joined the Knights of Columbus about 4 years ago, looking for some ways to help others and always felt that actions speak louder than words. So, sending money to a charity although a great thing, seemed less rewarding than actively being involved in trying to support the issue with action.  My primary concern was giving it the time commitment I thought it would need. Not to worry, it has not impacted my life in anyway negative way. If anything, it has been a reward for me. Having worked long hours for years limited my social life. So many of my connections were through friends of my wife. Not to say that I have not met many great people through my wife’s friends, but they were not men that I would have sought out as friends for myself.  The knights have connected me with many likeminded Christian men, who share many of my perspectives on family, and charity. Men who I would be happy to call friends. My membership has broadened my horizon, and I feel that any time spent with brother knights, always keeps me positive and smiling. I am a father of 3 biological children, who as forementioned felt that actions speak louder than words, adopted 3 more. This made our family complete. We have seen the world through very different eyes. I married my soulmate, and have been married for 42 years.

  • I joined the knights in 2019 when I turned 18 and joined after helping my dad with the breakfasts and other Knights events. I was interested in joining before I turned 18 and volunteered for every event my dad signed up for and did whatever I could to help out. Even with all of my disabilities (there’s quite a few), I can do anything any other Knight can do and more since I’m young and more agile when helping with certain stuff at some of the events in the church. I love doing volunteer work with the Knights and recommend other men to join because you’re missing out on an amazing experience and friendly brotherhood that welcomes every man over 18!!

  • Past State Deputy Edward A. McCann lives in Merrimack, NH with his wife Sandra. They have one daughter, Shannon; husband Matthew and two children, Kaelyn & Kason Gagnon
    
         Ed joined the Knights of Columbus in 1976 and started to work his way through the chairs of his council in Merrimack, NH. From 1979 to 1992 Ed was elected as the Grand Knight of his council on five different occasions. Later he became the Faithful Navigator of his Assembly 1506 in Nashua in 2007 for the next two years. He had a great love for the Knights of Columbus supporting the Third Degree Team of NH for almost twenty years.
    
         He held the position of District Deputy; under five various State Deputy’s. He held the position as a State Officer serving as State Warden, State Treasurer and State Secretary before serving as State Deputy 2009-2011.  Ed is truly a “grand knight” in many ways-always ready and willing to assist and help in whatever way he can. God Bless his wife Sandy, she is the lady who stands beside Ed and serves the knights and the wives and she gets the other ladies involved in activities and programs.
    
         A few years back it was Ed and Sandy who got the NH State Council organized into creating gift bags for the seminarians of the diocese. Inviting the local councils to contribute and allow the State Council to make this presentation at the annual Christmas dinner with the Bishop. Each seminarian received a gift bag with gift cards. This is a really great program that continues each year with their help.
    
         If the Knights in Merrimack, Nashua or the State Council are promoting an event or activity, you can be certain that Ed McCann is there to assist.
         Ed is currently the Treasure of Council 6725, State Executive Secretary, State Function Chairman as well as the State Ticket Chairman under the direction of State Deputy Raymond Lemay Sr.

  • I resisted joining the Knights for years, viewing it as a boys club that didn’t embrace families.  Janice and I have been married for 47 years, living in Merrimack and parishioners of OLM for 38 years after relocating back to NH from Air Force service in Colorado.  As parishioners, we worked on a fundraiser for a friend (who called himself a “silent Knight”) and witnessed the level of hard work, cooperation and family involvement by the OLM Knights.  I realized that my preconceptions were baseless and I joined the Knights in 2006 after being invited by some of the men who worked so hard helping their fellow Knight. 
    
    My interests outside of the Church community include road cycling, DIY computing solutions and sensors when we’re not entertaining our grandsons!

  • I joined the OLM Knights council 6725 in late 2020 just after listening to the Grand Knight at the annual membership drive.  I have been a resident f Merrimack since 1991 and a parishioner of OLM for almost the same. I have been married to my wife, Karen, for 35 years and have 4 adult children. My many interests outside the Knights include guitar and music, photography, repairing cars and almost any do-it-yourself project that comes my way. “I joined the knights to be part of a terrific organization of men that share the gift of the Catholic faith.”

  • I joined council 6725 in 2006 after discussions with people who I worked with that were in the Knights of Columbus.  I have been a resident of Merrimack and OLM parishioner since 1996. My wife Julie and I have been married for 33 years and have 2 sons who currently both live in southern NH. My interests outside the Knights include playing and watching sports, hiking, traveling, and enjoying time at the beach.  My father was an active Knight in Vermont where I grew up so I saw all the great things the Knights did for the community and wanted to continue that with my involvement with the Knights.

  • I became a member of the Knights in 2014.  I joined because I wanted to experience the fraternity, learn what being a Knight was all about, practice my faith more deeply, and give back to the Parish and those in need. I have been a member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish since 1989, when I moved to Merrimack with my wife, Connie, and our two daughters.  Connie and I are now proud grandparents.  After retiring as a public school administrator, I spent five years teaching at Rivier University.  Outside of my professional life, I enjoy woodworking, gardening, music, and cooking (especially pancakes for our Parish Breakfasts).I am blessed to have served as Grand Knight of Council 6725 for two years, and am in my fourth year as a Trustee.

  • I joined the knights of Columbus around 2004 after being hounded for several years by Bob Gilbert and others.  I wanted to wait to join until I had the time to dedicate to it.  By then my kids were in college and work had started to slow down.  After about 5 years as a knight I became the Advocate.  Two years later, because of unforeseen circumstances in the council, I found myself as the Grand Knight.  A path I would not recommend.
        My wife and I joined Our Lady of Mercy Parish in 1975 which was 9 months after we were married.  After 4 kids, 9 grand kids and 2 houses later we are still here!  Weeks before we moved to Merrimack Elaine and I attended a Marriage Encounter weekend which changed our lives dramatically.  We were heavily involved with that organization for several years.  When that time ended we dove into the parish.  Initially as Religious Education teachers for Jane Dwyer.  Later on we got involved in many other parish activities which has evolved into what is now called the Lifelong Faith Formation Committee.  In the midst of all that Elaine spent 9 years as the Religious Education Director for our parish.  We are not as involved as we used to be but we still stay very busy and since we were both retired we attended daily Mass almost every day.
        Speaking of retirement in 2011 I retired form BAE Systems after 39 years with the company as an Electrical Engineer.
        My motivation to join the knights was to serve.  Along the way I have made some life long very dear friends.
