Eucharistic Ministers serve the community by distributing the Eucharist during Mass. In addition, some Eucharistic Ministers bring the Eucharist to the home-bound, the sick, or the elderly. All ministers of Holy Communion should show reverence for the Eucharist by their demeanor, attire, and the manner in which they handle the consecrated bread and wine. To be a minister of Holy Communion, a person must be a fully Initiated Catholic and at least 15 years old. All ministers should sincerely try to live the Gospel message in their lives.
Lectors proclaim the Word of God at Mass. It is both an honor and a responsibility to serve as a Lector because “When the Scripture is read in church, it is Jesus Christ Himself who speaks.” The Lector gives public witness to his or her faith.
The goal of our Hospitality Ministry is to make every person who comes through the church doors feel like a part of our parish family. We want everyone who enters Our Lady of Mercy Church to feel welcome and loved.
A friendly parish begins with greeters who have the gift and grace to express warmth and are willing to share it with others. An honest smile and heartfelt handshake given in Christ’s name nourishes a person’s soul and satisfies a need for closeness.
If you are happy to be a part of Our Lady of Mercy Parish, come and be part of our Hospitality Ministry as a Greeter. Sharing kindness and a warm smile is an easy way to serve the Lord and be His love to others.
